4. Venice

Bronto (Hello) :)
*my so hot so crowded Venice day trip today
Weather makes or break a trip, not the company I'd say.
Today I had a brand new start of my FINAL WEEK OF HOLIDAYS (last 7 days). Rested enough and off I go to sightseeing again.
I went Venice alone today while friend attends class. (btw I sign in as a guest in this hall already, so my stay is legal! yeah!)

It is 3 hours away by Eurostar, but before that I need 1 hr to get out of ulu Castellanza town to reach Milan Centrale (I left hall at 6.30 am). Therefore I spent 8 hours on rail in total! That leaves me with 4 hours of Venice!

I like to be alone, to navigate and explore places on my own is enjoyable and exciting! It makes me more conscious of where I am heading and the freedom of what I want to do, instead of just switching off brains and follow frens/guides around.

Well, at least i saw for myself, Venice is no big deal. The weather is freaking hot...... too hot to feel romantic or be mesmerised by the gondolas. AND the water buses and every alley of Venice was super-duper packed with tourists from all over the world (as usual, like in Rome, tourists outnumbered locals and few chances to meet real Italians, haha). The water bus I took is more packed than SBS/SMRT during peak hours I assure you! I suspect it was overloaded. *Sigh*

Imagine I have to smile before the camera and "pretend this is oh-so-fun" while breaking out in sweat, hahaha...... lose my mood. Nevertheless, been there, seen it and took lotsa pix! (my usual style)

Oh, i met a retired couple from North Carolina today while i was lunching alone, told them a few tips on sightseeing in Rome :) the restaurant is rather poor, regretted my choice. Run by chinese from china, the sea bass i had (a treat for myself after starving myself with instant mee and a slice of bread yest) was very chinese in taste. and No Carlyn, I cannot find any squid sphagetti or risotti here! Argh! and I haven't found any nice tiramusu yet. The only consolation is, you can never go wrong with ANY gelati shops here, freshly made ones costing more than S$3 is quality-guranteed.

*my verdict on Italians
1. Italian men are buaya
(MSN with friend)
Gonzales says:
italians very buaya one
purpleshadow@milan's ulu town called Castellanza says:
No ah, they are very helpful... but Spainards are relatively more warm, polite and friendly. Italian men n women alike help me out when I ask them in English. ok wait... I agree Italian men are a bit se1... (told him about the Treasury thingy)
Despite so, I saw a couple of oh-so-cute Italian YOUNG men today! gorgeous enough to sweep me off my feet... shhh... i snap pix of them secretly :P

2. Italians are lazy cooks
Look, tiramisu is the only dessert that requires NO baking. Pasta is the EASIEST to cook, even a cooking dummy like me tried it at home before. and Pizza, just get the crust and sprinkle ingredients and bake, how hard can it be? heee...

3. Yes and No
In Italian, yes is "SI" just like chinese's SHI; and no is "NO" which is the English way. Eh, no point made, just a bo-liao comment.

*on my backpack
I know why I am so tired. Cuz I moved ard in my backpack for a number of times already: to london/to airport to go to spain/change hostel/to spain airport to go to rome/ to train station to go to milan...... each time I transit a city is like army training. March with 12 kg weight! Luckily I was canoeist-trained in JC! haha, so my shoulders and back can still take it and walk properly. This Thursday, I have to go through 1 hour train ride to reach Milan, find the correct airport shuttle bus and fly off to Paris.... argh, two more times I have to live "in" my backpack before I reach home.

* to Ah Glenn who is struggling under huge pile of work
dear Glenn, I have 1 more week here, which is 7 days of freedom, or 168 hours. Taking 9.11 flight from Paris. No I don't miss office/work :P but I miss my computer in my bedroom... used to sitting there every night to msn or do work or watch drama.

Jia you!! Hang in there. Don't be jealous...... I will play hard here :P maybe Paris will be cooling and makes me fall in love (with the place). 3 months holidays sound good... but leave it for my marital leave in future can? :P
Ciao!!!
